PROBLEMS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA
SOCIAL MEDIA INVISIBILITY
Are you tired of feeling invisible? Are you over jumping through hoops just trying to get some comments on a post? Are you sick of your sales posts going ignored?
I get it! With more and more people getting on to social media every day it's becoming harder to be seen. Unless you are an influencer with a huge audience already built, it can feel like an uphill battle trying to get a conversation going. (And I would know, because I literally teach people how to start conversations on social media.)
But we have to be honest with ourselves. These platforms are not going to make it any easier. They are giant profit machines, and they will do whatever it takes to keep them profitable. Even if it's at your expense.
LOW SOCIAL REACH
And one of the most frustrating parts about this is that people follow you and our friends with you because they want to see what you have to post. So when you post something, and the algorithm decides a teeny tiny percentage of people to show it to, they are preventing your people from seeing the things that they want to see.
And the algorithm was built to show you content that would keep you on the app longer, But that's not necessarily a good thing. Shouldn't you be in control of what you see? Or do you want it decided for you?
CENSORSHIP
And then there's the big problem of censorship. It goes far beyond taking violent or sexual material off of these platform, and it has begun to silence people with opinions that the owners of the app do not agree with. There is no longer free speech. No longer can adults debate current events, now if you try to speak about something, rather than people being able to give you feedback, you are put in virtual jail as a punishment.
So now you have to be careful about what you say if you want to remain in good graces with the algorithm, Even when you are trying to align with like-minded individuals.
Facebook and Instagram have created a virtual bubble for every user.
Almost like an echo chamber.
Wouldn't it be amazing to be on a platform
where you can say what you want without fear?
Wouldn't it be relaxing to open an app and be able to catch up with things in the way that you want to do it?
(For instance, I want to only check out the news twice a week, but I want to connect with my family and friends daily.)
And wouldn't it be great to be able to make a post, and know that the people who want to see it, are going to see it?
Wouldn't it be a relief to swipe through posts without a constant barrage of ads?
Maybe you have tried other platforms.
Gab.
Mewe.
All social.
Circle.io.
Mighty Networks.
But they all come up lacking. Either they are missing features or they try to be just like Facebook… which is what we are trying to get away from. Trust me, as a social media expert, I've been checking out alternate platforms since 2015. And even revisiting them recently, they are not a place that I would be excited to spend time on.
And some options are now requiring payments or subscriptions.
And then there are platforms like Twitter, but you can't build communities there, and all you can do is blast your opinion out, and read others opinions. It's very limited.
And even Instagram has an algorithm so it has the same effect like Facebook. You have to be super savvy and use all the latest strategies to get your content seen.
(And p.s., making posts about leaning into your feminine, and letting everyone come to you is still a strategy.)
Also, a lot of people did not move to these platforms so trying to get your people over there can be a headache.
